What is Carbon Monoxide ?
Carbon Monoxide (CO) is an invisible, odourless and
poisonous gas
CO is produced when burning any fuel, petrol, propane,
natural gas, oil, wood or coal.
It can take minutes or hours to kill depending on the level
of CO in the air, as it reduces the bodies capacity to carry oxygen
Many victims are aware they are not well, but become so
disoriented that they are unable to save themselves by leaving the building
or calling for assistance.
The common mild exposure symptoms of CO poisoning are
slight headaches, nausea, vomiting, fatigue (flu-like) symptoms).
The common medium exposure symptoms of CO poisoning are
throbbing headache, drowsiness, confusion, fast heart rate.
The common extreme exposure symptoms of CO poisoning are convulsions,
unconsciousness, heart and lung failure, brain damage and death. |
If Carbon Monoxide poisoning is
suspected, immediately evacuate the home and get everyone into fresh air.
Do not re-enter until the problem has been sorted out by a Corgi Registered gas
engineer.
Seek medical aid for casualties. |
